Some ways to reward your customers

I wrote about how to delight your customers and to pull them straight into the theme of your board game even before they open the box on my previous blog. You can read about that by clicking here.

But today, I wanted to touch upon a similar topic and share some tips with you on how I reward the customers for my board game, “Welcome to Sysifus Corp.”

A coupon for any future purchases

I include a coupon for 20% off my board game to all the people who bought a game. It’s a small business sized card with the code written on it with a short thank you note. It also has a QR code in the back so anyone can scan it and be sent directly to the checkout page.

I figured that the best champion for my game is someone who has already bought a copy. And they can give the coupon to anyone they know who also likes board games as a gift if they think it’s a great fit. I think it’s a win-win where my customers can help spread the good word about my game and I can reward them for their help.

That’s 7 sales that I got just from printing 1,000 business cards.

Thanks to the coupons, I got 7 extra sales from the referrals. A copy of my board game, “Welcome to Sysifus Corp,” costs $39.99 without shipping.

Instead of thinking about the potential loss from the 20% off (which is only $56 for all 7 of the games), assume that the 7 sales probably will not have happened without the coupons.

To calculate if that was worth it or not, that’s 1000 business cards at around $40 USD and 7 sales at a 20% discount for a total of around $224 dollars.

Which brings the total profit of this tactic to $184. Definitely worth it.

For full transparency though, I was able to get the business cards printed for free since my parents work at a commercial printing company. So my actual profit from this was $224, but since business cards are so cheap anyways, I think it’d be worth it for anyone out there.

Free stickers for my second game

Something I started doing recently was including free character stickers for my second game with any purchase of my first game. This way, my customers can stay in the loop with what I am currently working on and get a small teaser for my next game. I figured that if someone is buying my game, then they have a higher chance of liking my work and therefore might want to learn more about what I am working on.

A few free stickers with every purchase!

Free Print-N-Play & Tabletop Simulator version

Anyone who signs up for my newsletter on my website immediately gets a link to download the PNP version for free. I also included a link to the Tabletop simulator version where anyone can try my game out for free.

Anyone can try my game out on Tabletop Simulator for free!
